Another painting from my recent visit to Granada. The old, Moorish quarter of the Albaicin on the hill opposite the Alhambra offers endless compositions to paint and draw and I am always finding new ones on my visits to the city. I have not painted this particular view before but it is typical with the attractive old buildings, narrow alley and wonderful view of the Alhambra. I have tried to illustrate the strong sunshine and lush greenery of early summer in this painting.
The original painting has been sold to a collector in the USA.

Born in Chelmsford, England. I grew up in Falmouth but lived and worked as an artist in Truro from 1970 until I moved to Spain. I have been painting since I was 2 years old but I also have a love of nature, my animals, classical music and dance. In 2002 I moved to Spain and now live in a cortijo near Alhabia, Almeria, Southern Spain. The scenery around my home provides endless, beautiful subjects for landscape and seascape painting and I get inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of Andalucia and the old cities, towns and villages which I usually paint in watercolour.
