The old, Moorish quarter of Granada in Spain, the Albaicin, needs to be explored on foot. Even the widest of the cobbled streets can only cope with one way traffic. By walking up and down the steep lanes though you will come across some wonderful street scenes to paint and draw. The lovely, old buildings are fascinating but often you will also get a view of the Alhambra on the hill opposite in the background as in this painting of a narrow alley leading down to the Rio Darro.

Born in Chelmsford, England. I grew up in Falmouth but lived and worked as an artist in Truro from 1970 until I moved to Spain. I have been painting since I was 2 years old but I also have a love of nature, my animals, classical music and dance. In 2002 I moved to Spain and now live in a cortijo near Alhabia, Almeria, Southern Spain. The scenery around my home provides endless, beautiful subjects for landscape and seascape painting and I get inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of Andalucia and the old cities, towns and villages which I usually paint in watercolour.
