The old quarter of Almeria City below the Moorish castle, the Alcazaba, is a maze of narrow streets with attractive old buildings painted in bright colours. Here and in the neighbouring gypsy quarter, La Chanca, there are numerous interesting street scene which provide colourful compositions for paintings. I think this street is Calle del Platano but I forgot to check the name. I would like to do a series of paintings around here and La Chanca so I hope there will be some interest in them.
The original painting has been SOLD to collector in the UK.
Born in Chelmsford, England. I grew up in Falmouth but lived and worked as an artist in Truro from 1970 until I moved to Spain. I have been painting since I was 2 years old but I also have a love of nature, my animals, classical music and dance. In 2002 I moved to Spain and now live in a cortijo near Alhabia, Almeria, Southern Spain. The scenery around my home provides endless, beautiful subjects for landscape and seascape painting and I get inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of Andalucia and the old cities, towns and villages which I usually paint in watercolour. I am also interested in portraiture, dance and figure studies and my preferred medium for these is soft pastel. I have shipped my paintings all over the world and will...
