This is a view I see nearly every morning when I walk down to the village, Las Negras in Almeria, Spain. A couple of weeks ago this attractive fishing boat, not from Las Negras, was moored for a few days in the perfect spot to make it a focal point of the composition. The fishermen working on the boat, the reflections in the water and the seagulls flying around add life to the scene. I could not miss the opportunity to paint it in watercolours. The little boats from the village are usually pulled up on to the beach and this is the first time I have seen a boat moored here so conveniently.
The original painting has been SOLD to a collector in the UK.
Born in Chelmsford, England. I grew up in Falmouth but lived and worked as an artist in Truro from 1970 until I moved to Spain. I have been painting since I was 2 years old but I also have a love of nature, my animals, classical music and dance. In 2002 I moved to Spain and now live in a cortijo near Alhabia, Almeria, Southern Spain. The scenery around my home provides endless, beautiful subjects for landscape and seascape painting and I get inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of Andalucia and the old cities, towns and villages which I usually paint in watercolour. I am also interested in portraiture, dance and figure studies and my preferred medium for these is soft pastel. I have shipped my paintings all over the world and will...
