The dining room door which leads onto the terrace in Bodega Cortijo El Cura. This lovely old cortijo, set in 25 hectares of vineyards in the Sierra de Gador above Laujar de Andarax, has been sensitively restored retaining many of its original features. I rarely paint interiors but I was attracted to this simple composition of the large, wooden door, old chair and slate floor with the light shining in from the terrace beyond.

Born in Chelmsford, England. I grew up in Falmouth but lived and worked as an artist in Truro from 1970 until I moved to Spain. I have been painting since I was 2 years old but I also have a love of nature, my animals, classical music and dance. In 2002 I moved to Spain and now live in a cortijo near Alhabia, Almeria, Southern Spain. The scenery around my home provides endless, beautiful subjects for landscape and seascape painting and I get inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of Andalucia and the old cities, towns and villages which I usually paint in watercolour.
