PEPÉ THE DONKEY
Another animal painting but this time I have used pastel, which is my favourite medium for human portraits. I often come across Pepé, a six month old donkey, when I pass his yard and stable on one of my regular walks. I took to him the first time I saw him and thought he would make a lovely subject to draw. The last time I encountered him he and his mother had been allowed out and were grazing in the lane along which I was walking so I was able to get close to and speak to him which was more difficult when he was behind the fence in his corral.
