My first painting in over two months. Since I moved house I have had little time as there has been so much to do on our new cortijo and the summer has been very hot, but there is plenty to inspire me around my new home in the Alpujarra Almeriense. I was particularly attracted to this lane in Laujar de Andarax, the centre of the wine producing area of the Alpujarra. The narrow lane with its old buildings looking across the valley of the Rio Andarax towards the Sierras reminded me of the Albaicin in Granada. Even the cat posed obligingly.

Born in Chelmsford, England. I grew up in Falmouth but lived and worked as an artist in Truro from 1970 until I moved to Spain. I have been painting since I was 2 years old but I also have a love of nature, my animals, classical music and dance. In 2002 I moved to Spain and now live in a cortijo near Alhabia, Almeria, Southern Spain. The scenery around my home provides endless, beautiful subjects for landscape and seascape painting and I get inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of Andalucia and the old cities, towns and villages which I usually paint in watercolour.
